Ontonagon Theater

The Ontonagon Theatre of Performing Arts in downtown Ontonagon, Michigan, is a beautifully restored, volunteer-run nonprofit that serves as a cultural centerpiece in the western Upper Peninsula. Originally built as a movie house around the 1930s, it now welcomes live theatrical productions, concerts, comedy shows, educational programming, and community events.

Historical Cultural Hub

With professional sound and lighting, interactive props and costumes, and an intimate, historic setting, it’s a popular venue for everything from fundraisers to original comedies like the local hit Yooper and the Beast.

The theater supports both local talent and touring acts, hosting over 35,000 adults and 4,000 children across five counties annually—making it a vibrant and essential arts resource in the region.
