The Porcupine Mountains and Ontonagon area host lively community events throughout the year, bringing residents and visitors together to celebrate local culture, from festivals and parades to art exhibitions, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.

Ontonagon’s Lake Trout Classic is now in its twenty-first year. The first LTC was held in 2005 with 40 teams participating, and it has been growing in popularity ever since.
All proceeds from the event are donated to the Ontonagon County Cancer Association. Donations are also made to the families of sick children in the area.

The Porcupine Mountains Folk School is located in the historical carpenter shop building in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, Michigan’s largest state park and premier wilderness area. The Friends of the Porkies Folk School volunteers host many events throughout the year. Learn new skills or hone existing skills. The building is ADA handicapped accessible.

A non-profit group dedicated to outdoor sports and recreation in the southern Keweenaw. The highlight of involvement is the Miner’s Revenge mountain bike races held in the Summer. …which part of it happens inside a copper mine. Join us!

The Porcupine Mountains Music Festival will be held at the Winter Sports Complex located within Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. Several acres of open slope will be mowed and ready for your blankets and lawn chairs. Attendance is limited, there is plenty of room for distancing, and a bad seat will not be found. Concessions are located inside the ski chalet and will be open throughout the event. The Children’s Tent will provide activities for children during the festival, with schedule TBD.
