ONTONAGON COUNTY MICHIGAN TRAIL RIDING

Ontonagon County is home to more than 135 miles of designated ATV and UTV trails that take rides through the beautiful scenery of the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Michigan Trails and Recreation Alliance of Land and the Environment (MI-TRALE) is responsible for seven multi-use trails in the Western U.P, including five that are in or pass through Ontonagon County. The Bill Nicholls Trail starts in Greenland in Ontonagon County and travels northwest for 35 miles to just south of Houghton; the trail takes riders across an elevated trestle above the Firesteel River and offers outstanding views. Pat’s Motorsports in Greenland rents side by sides for daily use on designated trails. Hamilton’s North Coast Adventures offers UTV rentals in several locations in the Western U.P., including White Pine, Bergland, Bessemer, and Ironwood.
