Mine Your Own Ore!

Dating back to the mid-19th century, this copper mine played a pivotal role in the area’s economic development. Today, visitors can embark on guided tours that take them deep into the underground workings, providing a fascinating glimpse into the challenges faced by miners in the pursuit of copper ore. You can collect native copper in your own private ore pile when you make a reservation! You get a three cubic yard ore pile of mine-run rock to dig through.  Equipment is provided but guests are responsible for protective eyewear and proper shoes.
